On September 12, 2025, the VI “Caspian Water Innovation Forum” will be held at the Baku Expo Center, organized by “AQUALINK” LLC. Organized under the slogan “We add value to water”, this forum will be a platform for extensive experience and exchange of ideas on sustainable management of water resources, environmental protection and the application of innovative technologies in our country. The main goal of the forum is to demonstrate advanced scientific innovations and technologies in the field of water, and to strengthen cooperation between state institutions, local entrepreneurs and foreign partners.
Four main panel discussions will be held within the framework of the event: the application of advanced water technologies, environmental protection technologies and practices, the importance of recycling technologies, and innovative approaches to water management. In addition to state institutions such as the State Water Resources Agency, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Economy, the forum will be attended by international companies representing more than 10 countries and representatives of the country's leading scientific and educational institutions. This forum will act as an important platform where practical and scientific approaches to water and the environment come together.
Hajar Huseynova is the Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD) of ADA University. Her major functions include leading the production of high-quality research reports and publications, as well as teaching and conducting trainings in the field of green energy, environmental policy and management, sustainable development and water resources management. Hajar has worked with various international institutions such as UNDP, GEF, GIZ, Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung, NUPI in the capacity of researcher and project manager. She is the author of monthly analytical papers and reports on water, energy, renewable energy and environmental policy gaps in the country. She graduated with an MA in Diplomacy and International Affairs from ADA University.
Dr. Schnabel has been working for more than 15 years as a Technical Consultant, Project Manager, and Researcher in the water and environmental sector, covering all aspects related to water resources management, water supply, water quality, and environmental management.
He completed a BA (Hons.) in Geography with a specialisation in natural resources management and an MSc in International Development Studies, where he focused on water and public health in Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2018, he was awarded a PhD in Water Management and Microbiology, and subsequently completed his Post-Doc research in phytoremediation with the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.
Through practical experience from many international projects, he covers different areas of competence including technical project management, development cooperation, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building, and research; and is versed in various disciplines such as catchment hydrology, water quality monitoring and analysis, phytoremediation and wastewater management, water supply in emergency settings, environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), laboratory design, and regulatory compliance and policy implementation.
Furthermore, he is particularly experienced in working in low-resource settings and gained field experience while working in West and East Africa, but also in the Middle East and in Central Asia. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in highly ranked journals. Dr Schnabel is currently working as Team Leader and Project Manager for HYDROPHIL GmbH and is based in Vienna, Austria.
